Family Promise of Greater Johnson City’s (FPJC) mission is to help low-income and unhoused families achieve sustainable independence. We provide a network of faith congregations and community agencies to promote a collaborative response for unhoused families with children. In particular, this response allows these families to remain together while addressing the challenges confronting them in obtaining housing. These families receive case management specific to their needs and in-depth support as they progress.
Families must complete an application and submit a background check. Eligible guests will be accepted into FPJC on a space availability basis without regard to race, gender, religion, ethnicity, or financial status. FPJC also primarily serves families from Washington County, Carter County, Unicoi, Greene County, Johnson City, and the eastern end of Sullivan County in Northeast Tennessee.
FPJC incorporates three distinct programs: Prevention and Diversion, Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), and Families Moving Home (FMH). FPJC is affiliated with Family Promise, a national organization with more than 200 affiliates in 43 states, along with more locations under development. Nationally, our programs involve more than 160,000 volunteers and 6,000 congregations.
FPJC does not and shall not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of its activities or operations. These activities include but are not limited to hiring and firing staff, selecting volunteers and vendors, and providing shelter services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our team and the families we serve. FPJC is also happy to serve unhoused families with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
