SONGFEST 2013 A Success!
By George Bottcher
An audience of about three hundred and fifty people attended the ninth annual Family Promise of Greater Johnson City (FPJC) Songfest on Sunday afternoon December 1, 2013. They enjoyed a variety of gospel, country, bluegrass, and Christmas songs. The concert, at the beautiful Wellmont Regional Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast State Community College, raised over $15,000 in donations from ticket sales, sponsorships and donations.
This year’s performance featured Sunnyside, the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Pride Band, Ed Snodderly and a circle of regional musicians including Lisa Pattison, Andreena Belcher, Roger Rasnake, Terry Barnes, and George Bottcher. Headlining this year’s event was Trey Hensley who closed the concert to an enthusiastic audience.
Retiring FPJC Executive Director Brian Rosecrance and Terry Welch, outgoing FPJC Board President, talked to the audience about the mission of Family Promise and introduced Kim Fields who thanked the many volunteers who assisted her family.
