About FPJC

Homelessness Statistics

  • Families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.
  • 41% of the homeless population is comprised of families with children.
  • The Johnson City Public Schools served 716 homeless children last school year.
  • There is an average of 20 homeless families each day in Johnson City (nearly 200 families each year).

Family Promise

  • Started in 1986 in Summit, NJ.
  • Nationwide there are more than 180 Family Promise affiliates mobilizing more than 6,000 faith congregations and more than 160,000 volunteers to address family homelessness.

Services Provided by FPJC

  • Family Promise of Greater Johnson City (FPJC) provides shelter, food and case management services to 25 to 35 guest families each year.
  • At the FPJC Day Center, families shower, do laundry, and work with FPJC staff members on individualized goals.
  • Guest families are connected to a variety of community resources and services to assist them in addressing issues such as: employment, housing, counseling, education, skills training, health and nutrition.
