About IHN

Homelessness Statistics

Families with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.
41% of the homeless population is comprised of families with children.
In recent years, the Johnson City Public Schools have served more than 500 homeless children each academic year.
There is an average of 20 homeless families each day in Johnson City (nearly 200 families each year).

Family Promise

Started in 1986 in Summit, NJ.
As of October 2012 there were over 170 Family Promise affiliates in 41 states and Washington D.C.

Services Provided by IHN

IHN of Greater Johnson City provides shelter, food and case management services to 25 to 35 guest families each year.
At the IHN Day Center, families shower, do laundry, and work with IHN staff members on individualized goals.
Guest families are connected to a variety of community resources and services to assist them in addressing issues such as: employment, housing, counseling, education, skills training, health and nutrition.
