Family Promise of Greater Johnson City (FPJC) is involved with three main community fundraising events during the year: Chasing Snakes, Founders after 5, and Songfest.

ChasingSnakesLogoChasing Snakes, started in 2009, is an annual 10k road race and 4k fitness walk/fun run hosted by St. John’s Episcopal Church to benefit FPJC. The race is held on the Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day. We are grateful to the many volunteers from St. John’s, our other partnering congregations, and the community for making this event such a wonderful success each year.

Founders after 5 takes place at Founders Park in Johnson City throughout each summer. Family Promise is sponsored by Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union at two such events – May and August.

Songfest is an annual event that began in 2005 featuring bluegrass, country, and gospel music from regional artists. FPJC has been blessed to host performances from the likes of the Old Time Ramblers and Ed Snodderly. Our 2017 event, held in the Gregory Center at Milligan College, also included the local performers Carson Peters & Iron Mountain.

Songfest 2018 will take place on Sunday, November 11 at the Gregory Center on the Milligan College campus. Please mark your calendars so you can come out and support FPJC through this wonderful afternoon of music and fun!

As I was rearranging my Peruvian Nativity Set that I have sitting in my office at Family Promise and that I purchased at Artisans Village in Johnson City, I was thinking about our ministry and how good and faithful God has been to us during this past year. He has allowed us to share His love with many homeless families and individuals – with many homeless kids – and to help these folks as they work to get back on their feet. God has blessed Family Promise with hundreds of wonderful volunteers from many strong church partners. He has provided us with a caring and supportive board of directors. And, He has allowed us to share our vision with many dedicated donors who ensure we can continue God’s work in this community. Thank you to all who love and care for Family Promise and our families. You make a difference! Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy New Year! ~Bob

Family Promise just really gave us hope that we didn't have when we first started.

Cindy Kennard, board member, former guest

It's a wonderful experience. There's a lot of love and joy being expressed daily.

Kurt Kneuker, former guest

Me and my kids were living in an abandoned building. Now we have our own house. I have a job. I just got a car. Family Promise did all that.
