LOU REID AND CAROLINA

Lou Reid and Carolina are based out of Union Grove, North Carolina. The band began in 1992, with it's sound largely based in traditional bluegrass roots with emphasis on dynamic vocals. The current band is no exception. Lou Reid anchors the band with his lead vocals. Christy Reid has been a member of Lou Reid and Carolina since 2002. Lou and Christy married in St. Augustine, Florida on April 12, 2004. Christy is the bass player for the band, providing lead and tenor vocals and handling most of the emcee work. Trevor Watson came from a musical family and was indoctrinated into the world of bluegrass at an early age. Trevor has anchored down Lou Reids sound on banjo for the last five years, also singing on the quartets. Trevor is the backbone of the band, keeping trips lively and always being the consumate professional. Kevin Richardson joined Lou Reid and Carolina in 2002. After a stint as guitarist for the Larry Stephenson Band, Kevin is back playing lead guitar with the same flair Lou's fans have come to know as a part of his sound. While in town for Songfest, Lou Reid and Carolina will also be playing on Saturday, December 1st at the Down Home. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Performance begins at 9:00 PM.
THE DENNIS COVE BAND
Bluegrass with a twist. With the only two original members being Carl Lee Hazelwood and his son Chris now joined by Bassist Don Anderson, and Dean Burchett on banjo. Influenced by the likes of NGR, and Tony Rice you can hear the old time sound of The Stanleys and those famous Bristol Sessions.
The annual Songfest events are designed for 3 main purposes:
- To raise awareness of the services of IHN and the plight of homeless families in our area.
- To raise funds that benefit the programs of the IHN ministries.
- To offer an afternoon of fun and powerful entertainment for area residents of all ages.
Songfest 2012 offers a variety of acoustical music. Many talented musicians in our region have been willing and enthusiastic about participating in the event. Past performances have featured Bluegrass, Celtic, Gospel, Spirituals, Old-Time and Country Music along with original songs written by regional musical artists. These skilled musicians excite the audiences with their talents and a blending of music that fascinates and entertains a wide variety of music lovers.
